Video Quality & Content
Why do videos on DeoVR have different resolutions and quality levels?
DeoVR operates as a community platform similar to YouTube, where content is uploaded by individual creators from around the world. Video quality varies based on several factors:
• Creator equipment: The camera used for recording (professional VR cameras produce 8K content, while entry-level cameras may only capture 4K or lower)
• Upload format: Creators control the resolution, bitrate, and codec they use when encoding videos
• Content type: Premium content typically maintains higher quality standards, while free content varies
• Codec used: Newer content uses AV1 (on Quest 3/3S) or HEVC/H.265 encoding
Quality Standards: As of April 2024, DeoVR implemented quality assurance for Premium videos. Content that doesn't meet quality standards will not receive Premium status, and creators are notified if their video is removed from Premium.
Current Library: DeoVR hosts over 41,500 videos with resolutions ranging from standard HD to 8K, supporting various formats including 180°, 360°, fisheye, equirectangular, and flat 3D/spatial video.
