Mississippi VR Travel Videos

Mississippi is a river state and a Gulf state at once, and the drive from one to the other takes a day. Start in the Delta, where the land runs flat to the horizon and the sky takes up most of the view; at Clarksdale, Highways 61 and 49 cross at the spot the blues has claimed for a century, and the music is still played in rooms you can walk into. Follow the river south to Vicksburg on its bluffs, then to Natchez, where the houses along the bluff look out over the same bend. From there the Natchez Trace Parkway runs four hundred and forty-four miles north-east with no advertising and no commercial traffic on it. Oxford keeps Faulkner's house at Rowan Oak down a cedar drive, and at Tupelo you can stand inside the two-room house Elvis was born in. On the coast, shrimp boats work out of Biloxi and the barrier islands of the Gulf Islands National Seashore lie an hour offshore.
